Merlin Membrane Flush Kit, the GE Merlin RO was designed with an optional membrane flush feature that allows users to reduce the effects of salt diffusion, also known as TDS creep. TDS creep a phenomenon that occurs with all RO systems, causes a rise in product water TDS when RO systems are not in use. As a result, the rejection at system start-up is often less than the true capabilities of the RO system. The Merlin flush system allows installers to lessen TDS creep resulting in better quality water when the system is used after periods of inactivity.
A series of check valves within the Merlin manifold automatically redirect product water into the tank before the Merlin is shutdown. The pressurized tank in the Merlin Flush Kit then forces the product water across the membranes flushing the high TDS concentrate water to drain. The complete flush cycle will take approximately 3-5 minutes, depending on installation conditions. For proper operation, the tank should hold an air pre-charge of 8 -10 psi.
Recommended for applications where a spike of TDS at system start up is not desired, the flush kit is a great way to maintain a high standard of water quality.
